Dr. Regina Maria Carney is a highly skilled, dual board-certified psychiatrist with over a decade of experience in treating a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other major and sub-threshold mental health disorders. As part of NeuroHealth Treatment Centers, Dr. Carney provides expert, compassionate care tailored to meet the unique needs of each patient. Her approach focuses not just on alleviating symptoms but on restoring overall well-being—mind, body, and spirit.
Dr. Carney’s impressive educational background sets her apart in the field of psychiatry. She began her academic journey at Duke University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with minors in Biochemistry and Spanish. At Duke, she developed a strong foundation in science and research, laying groundwork for her future in medicine.
She went on to earn her medical degree from Stony Brook University in New York, where she was recognized for her excellence in research and clinical skills and authored her first first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
Following medical school, Dr. Carney completed a rigorous residency in General Psychiatry at the prestigious Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in 2024, graduating with high honors. Megan also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, graduating with honors in 2021.
Her clinical training includes extensive work in pediatric, adult, and geriatric psychiatric settings.
