TMS Therapy requires a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, which includes several questionnaires about symptoms or problems you have experienced as well as all treatments you have previously received, followed by a meeting with our onsite, board-certified psychiatrist. Once we determine that you qualify as a candidate for TMS Therapy, we will contact your insurance provider to obtain authorization for treatment.
An MRI is required prior to all NeuroHealth TMS treatments, so we can customize our parameters of treatment specifically for your brain. TMS Therapy typically begins with five daily treatments over the course of 4 to 6 weeks for a total of 30–36 sessions per treatment course. Each treatment session will last anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes depending on the patient, and treatments are facilitated by a NeuroHealth Treatment Centers TMS Technician.
The procedure may cause some local discomfort on the scalp and may even cause a headache. You can take Motrin or Tylenol before the procedure starts to prevent this. Otherwise, this treatment is an outpatient procedure, which means that treatment takes place in our office, and you can leave the office and return to your life as normal after each visit.
Our onsite, board-certified psychiatrist will be meeting with you throughout your treatment course to monitor your progress and adjust parameters of treatment settings as needed.
